About Susan

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Windsor and an Honours Bachelor of Sociology with a Legal Studies option from the University of Waterloo. I bring more than 25 years of experience supporting individuals through mental health challenges, trauma, gender-based violence, life transitions, and relationship difficulties.

My professional background spans community, shelter, crisis, and primary care settings across Ontario. Throughout my career, I have held a variety of frontline and leadership roles within the violence against women and community mental health sectors, including crisis counsellor, gender-based violence counsellor, sexual assault counsellor, healing program coordinator, and interim management positions. I have extensive experience designing and facilitating psychoeducational groups, developing trauma-informed programming, and supporting both professional and informal caregivers through education, consultation, and reflective practice.

Much of my work focuses on supporting caregivers and helping professionals who are navigating burnout, grief and loss, relationship strain, identity concerns, health anxiety, and major life transitions. I understand the challenges of balancing the needs of others while trying to care for yourself. My goal is to create a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to move toward meaningful and sustainable change.

My practice is grounded in feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed approaches. Clients often describe me as warm, compassionate, practical, and easy to talk to. I believe that healing happens through connection, curiosity, and creating a safe space where people can explore their experiences without judgment.

Outside of work, I enjoy DIY home projects, watching movies, walking my dog, and spending time with my family. I'm married to my university sweetheart and have two sons, one at university and the other beginning that journey soon. My pets often keep me company as quiet office companions.

If you're looking for support through a difficult season, a major life transition, or the ongoing challenges of caring for others, I would be honoured to work alongside you.
