Education, Specialities, Years in practice

About Me

With over 20 years in the field, I specialize in supporting helping professionals as they navigate the complex challenges of occupational stress, compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress and burnout. After getting my undergraduate degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Carleton University, I spent a decade working in case management, housing, and addiction treatment services. It was in this chapter of my career that I experienced compassion fatigue and secondary traumatic stress. In my own healing journey, I came to understand the personal and professional factors that had impacted my well-being, leading me to seek a new way of experiencing balance and connection in my life and work. Through lots of trial and error, I found my way back, which ultimately inspired my commitment to support others on their healing paths. I returned to Carleton to complete my Master of Social Work and opened my own private practice that’s dedicated to empowering helpers to reclaim their well-being and build resilience, allowing them to thrive both personally and professionally.

I bring a down-to-earth, relaxed, and relational approach to therapy—not just offering quick fixes, but diving deep into the roots of my clients' experiences and patterns. My goal is to foster self-awareness, self-compassion, and a sense of wholeness, helping my clients create lives where their needs are met, so they can continue helping others. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused techniques, and trauma-focused methods.

Over the past 10 years in private practice, I’ve been privileged to work with helping professionals in healthcare, social services, education, and public service. My work has included counselling, consultation, and over 700 speaking engagements and trainings across Canada on positive workplace practices and personal well-being. I’m also a passionate advocate for improved psychological health practices in the workplaces of helping professionals. Recently, I expanded my practice to bring on a team of social workers, all dedicated to supporting helpers in finding the support they deserve.

When I’m not working, you can often find me painting, knitting, or diving into creative projects at home. I’ve been married for over 17 years, and we have three wonderful children and two cats who keep life interesting.

If you’re ready to start your own journey toward a more balanced and fulfilling life, I’d be honored to support you.
