About the Event

Social work is meaningful work, but it carries real psychological demands: trauma exposure, emotional labour, ethical tension, and workplace conditions that can wear practitioners down over time. This three-part series helps social work students build the foundation for a sustainable career before they enter the field.

Students will learn to recognize the occupational risks specific to social work, explore their own helping patterns and boundaries, and discover how to intentionally build peer support and professional community from the start of their careers. The series emphasizes that well-being is not solely an individual responsibility; it is shaped by workplaces and systems too.

Wednesday, October 21: Staying Well in Social Work - Understanding the Psychological Risks

Wednesday, October 28: Caring Without Carrying - Finding Your Zone of Helpfulness

Wednesday, November 4: We Were Never Meant to Do This Alone - Peer Support in Social Work

Please note: while the events are geared towards social work students, all social work professionals are welcome to attend.
