About Amanda Ahmed

With over 15 years of experience in mental health and community care, I specialize in supporting individuals living with chronic stress, complex trauma, relational wounds, and the long-term impacts of marginalization or systemic harm. My clinical experience has been shaped by years of nursing practice across diverse settings, including street health, mental health services, Indigenous communities, non-profit sectors, outreach, and work with individuals in active military service. My approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and deep respect for each person’s story, holistic being and capacity for healing.

Many of the individuals I work with are seeking support because something in their relational world - whether with others or within themselves - feels painful, disconnected, or overwhelming. Sometimes the protective strategies that once helped us survive begin to limit us later in life. My work centers on helping individuals gently reconnect with all parts of themselves - those that carry pain and those that hold strength - rebuild trust and self-understanding, and move toward a greater sense of safety, purpose, and ease.

From this broad landscape of care, I’ve developed a strong understanding of the complexities of the human experience, how extreme stress, moral injury and adversity can shape the nervous system and contribute to long-lasting suffering, and just as importantly, how courage and deep strength often coexist in these same stories. I take an integrative therapeutic approach, meaning I draw on a blend of evidence-informed practices tailored to the needs and preferences of each client. This may include Somatic work, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy & Narrative Exposure Therapy, and attachment repair. I am trauma-informed in all aspects of my work, and I hold space with attunement, flexibility, and care - especially for those who have felt unseen or misunderstood in traditional systems.

Healing is not linear and never one-size-fits-all. We are meaning-making beings, biologically wired for connection, and some of the most powerful transformation occurs in the presence of safety and relationship. My own lived experience informs a deeply compassionate, empathetic and socially conscious approach to therapy.

If you're navigating emotional pain, disconnection, or a desire to return to yourself - I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
