About Amanda Ahmed

With over 15 years of experience in mental health and community care, I specialize in supporting individuals navigating complex trauma, chronic stress, substance use, and relational challenges. My approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience and capacity for healing.

Many of the individuals I work with are seeking support because something in their relational world (either with others or within themselves) feels out of balance, painful, or disconnected. Sometimes the very strategies that once protected us begin to limit us as we move through adulthood. My work centers on helping clients reconnect with these protected parts, rebuild self-trust, and create space for new possibilities, ease, and healing.

As a nurse psychotherapist, I offer brief or single-session therapy, medium- to long-term psychotherapy, holistic assessments, bio-psycho-social education, harm-reduction support, and mental health system navigation. My practice is especially informed by years of supporting individuals impacted by complex trauma, chronic neglect, substance use, and the lingering effects of systemic harm. Whether you’re exploring identity, feeling stuck in patterns of emotional disconnection, or carrying a history that your nervous system hasn’t yet had a chance to fully process, I hold space with empathy, attunement, and a deeply relational presence.

My therapeutic work draws on a variety of frameworks and modalities, including:

  • Trauma-informed, compassionate, and collaborative care

  • Somatic and neuroaffective approaches

  • Internal Family Systems– and attachment-informed practices

  • Narrative Therapy & Narrative Exposure Therapy

  • Harm-reduction philosophy

  • Culturally safe, identity-affirming care

Healing is not linear and never one-size-fits-all. We are biologically wired for connection, and some of the most powerful healing happens within relationships. My own lived experience informs an approach grounded in empathy, attunement, and compassionate presence.

I’d be honored to support you on your journey.
